What is Behavioral Health Leadership Team? 

The Behavioral Health Leadership Team (BHLT) is a multidisciplinary team focused on identifying the behavioral health needs of Ellis County, and working toward best practice solutions to those needs.  

Who is the BHLT?

The members of BHLT consist of the leaders from various community partners, including law enforcement, medical health providers, mental health &substance use service providers, community support organizations, and local governments.  

What are the goals of BHLT?

During the Sequential Intercept Model mapping session, held on January 16th & 17th of 2025, community partners and providers identified five goals:

  1. Improve and increase the behavioral health response for all local law enforcement. 
  2. Increase access to substance use treatment providers in Ellis County. 
  3. Educate the Ellis County community on identifying what behavioral health means and how we, as community members can help. 
  4. Improve housing support and services for the unhoused in Ellis County. 
  5. Increase access to crisis response and intervention services in Ellis County. 

When does BHLT meet?

BHLT will meet on the first Tuesday of every month, starting at 9am, located at Precinct 2 - 2675 W. US Hwy 287 Business Waxahachie, Texas 75165.

Who can attend the BHLT meetings?

Anyone is welcome to attend the BHLT meetings. The purpose of the meetings will be to hear updates on the work groups on progress, challenges, and successes, along with any upcoming community events.
