WHEREAS, in 1849, the Texas Spirit formed Ellis County by and through the pursuit of life and liberty; and
WHEREAS, we join together in humility and reverence as we did then, affirming our faith in the divine Providence that has never ceased to guide us; and
WHEREAS, while these times of uncertainty have created apprehension for many Texans, guidance through prayer has provided strength and direction to neither fear nor panic, as Ellis County has never walked alone (Joshua 1 :9); and
WHEREAS, these unprecedented times have affected our family, friends, children, and livelihood; we petition our hopes and seek counsel in confidence to the One who hears us (Job 22:27); and
WHEREAS, government is made up of the people, by the people, and for the people, is a means to achieving great change and civic justice, while yielding to the authority instituted by God (Romans 13: 1 ); and
WHEREAS, while we have experienced times of abundance and recognize the Source of our blessings, let all people rejoice in our confident hope, be patient in trouble, and keep on praying (Romans 12: 12); and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that I, Ellis County Judge Todd Little, wish to recognize May 7, 2020 as National Day of Prayer in Ellis County, Texas.
