Governor Abbott’s Reopening of Texas Pause & Ellis County
On June 25th, Governor Abbott announced there will be a temporary pause of additional reopening phases for the State of Texas. Governor Abbott stated “The last thing we want to do as a state is go backwards and close down businesses. This temporary pause will help our state corral the spread until we can safely enter the next phase of opening our state for business.” While this pause is temporary, it is necessary for the citizens of Ellis County to understand how this will affect their lives and businesses.
Under Phase 3 of the Texas reopening guidelines, businesses are allowed to operate at 50% capacity. Under this new rule by Governor Abbott, businesses are allowed to operate at this level but will not advance to Phase 4 for the time being.
We ask that all Ellis County citizens take this temporary pause on Phase 3 with the utmost regard. As we see case numbers increase, The Office of Emergency Management and local health professionals recommend the wearing of masks while in public places and large gatherings, physical distancing, and sanitization to help reduce the spread of COVID-19
