Mission Statement and Responsibilities

To provide our community with safe, secure and accurate elections with the highest level of integrity and transparency. One of the most important functions of the county government is to oversee the electoral process. The Elections Department has the responsibility of conducting all federal, state, county elections, and certain elections for other political subdivisions that contract with Ellis County. This office also handles voter registration. Ellis county has 63 political subdivisions which include Cities (20), Schools (11), Water Districts (6), MUD Districts (14), and Emergency Service Districts (12). The Office of Elections Administrator was created by the Ellis County Commissioners Court effective in 1993.
