Veterans Treatment Court
VETERANS (and those connected by blood or service) NEEDS SURVEY
Veterans’ Court offers a treatment program that judicially supervises and supports Ellis County’s Justice Involved Veterans (JIV) who have suffered injuries during their military service, whether those injuries have manifested in physical, mental, and/or emotional ways, and they now find themselves in need of assistance to help them return to a healthy, stable, and successful life. This “Specialty Court” offers offenders a treatment option that is designed to divert our applicants out of the traditional criminal justice process and into the appropriate treatment/rehabilitative alternatives. Once the JIV has been screened, assessed, and approved for participation in the program, he/she will promptly begin a treatment regimen that is specific to his/her needs. The goal of the program is to drastically reduce recidivism in our Veteran population, while assisting in the restoration of their pride-filled spirit and sense of duty to the community, and this great Nation, through locally provided support, resources, and opportunities.
This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families. For more information, visit www.tvc.texas.gov.
